My name is Ebun Oluwole. I’m a DTC/B2C Content and Social Media Marketing Strategist. I work with lifestyle brands to manage and grow their digital channels (Website, Social Media and Email) to increase sales and revenue.
I started my career about six years ago and I’ve been able to grow and build myself into what I am today. Most of my digital skills are self-taught but that hasn’t stopped me from progressing and achieving my career goals.
My career journey can be categorised into three phases:
2013 – 2014
I started my career as a writer/blogger writing daily articles on what is now ebunoluwole.com. But along the line, I realized that I had a passion for writing and I could do more work whilst earning an income with my writing skills.
Towards the end of 2013, I got scouted by one of the content writers at africanaturalistas.com to join the team. Together with a team of seven women, we wrote our way to become the number one destination for natural hair care content in Africa.
By early 2014, I realized that I had the confidence to finally become a Freelance Writer. I got a few side gigs writing for a couple of people. But by mid-2014, I got my first official writing gig with a beauty e-commerce brand specializing in health, fitness and beauty products: blog.sizzelle.com. Unknownst to me, I was gradually carving my niche as a Freelance SEO Content Writer.
2015 – 2016
At the beginning of 2015, I already had two steady gigs writing for two rising beauty brands in Nigeria. But by mid-2015, Hearst Magazines decided to launch the famous Cosmopolitan magazine in Nigeria. Fortunately for me, I already had a relationship with the Digital Editor on Twitter so I pitched my work to her and I got the job. I worked with Cosmopolitan Nigeria for about two years before they finally shut down and left Nigeria.
Towards the end of 2016, I started pitching my work to other publications that needed lifestyle content. One of which was the National Glory as well as BellaNaija.
During this period, I also took up a new skillset: social media marketing. I was excited to implement everything I had learnt so I asked for a voluntary Content and Social Media Role at nitcnigeria.com.
At this point, I finally realized what niche I wanted to specialize in.
2017 – Present
In 2017, my career progressed even further;
- In March, I officially started a business providing content and social media services for small businesses.
- I worked briefly as an assistant editor at Woman.ng.
- I became a regular contributor to sheleadsafrica.org
Till date, I have worked with over 20 Nigerian brands in different capacities but mostly providing content for all their digital channels including website/blog, social media and emails.
I’m currently open to working with new brands in the lifestyle niche. Please send me an email at [email protected] and let’s have a chat.
